When in doubt.. look it up! It’s sad, but when it comes to reading food labels, you have to be a detective. When I’m at the grocery store and I come across an ingredient I’m not familiar with, I do a quick Google search to learn more about it. Over time, you will start to recognize the ingredients that should be avoided and the other names they are hidden under. But don’t forget the general rule, don’t eat it if it has more than 5 ingredients. The fewer ingredients a product has, the less of a detective you have to be. Especially if all of the ingredients are natural!
